Now that you’ve decided you want to visit Mystic (a great decision, btw), it’s time to decide on your accommodations. Not an easy decision, so let us help by offering a few recommendations.
Before we do, though, we’d also like to recommend having a look at Just Mystic apparel like our hoodies and sweatshirts, and other coastal apparel. You’ll find a style that’s simple, classic, and clean, and you’ll also find great gifts for you and your family and friends. Plus, our store is online. We’ll ship directly to your home, saving you the inconvenience of jamming more things in your suitcase for the return trip.
On to hotels and inns in Mystic…
You can certainly be happy staying in any of the big name chains in the area, but you’re coming to Mystic after all. You should stay in a Mystic, CT hotel that enhances the charm, ambiance, and, yes, mystique of Mystic. For this, we have you covered. Let’s start with one of the icons of downtown Mystic, the Whaler’s Inn.
1. The Whaler’s Inn
Downtown Mystic’s premiere boutique property is nestled just steps from the banks of the Mystic River and the Bascule Drawbridge. The Whaler’s Inn has 45 guestrooms spanning five unique buildings within their fabulous downtown Mystic location. They’re known for award-winning hospitality and unsurpassed attention to detail. They’re also home to one of the area’s best restaurants, The Shipwright’s Daughter, with a menu that changes daily.

2. Spicer Mansion
Spicer Mansion is a place of history and romance, as well as white-glove service. The mansion has long been admired as the lavish summer home of Captain Elihu Spicer, and after many years of restoration, Spicer Mansion opened its doors in May 2016 as a boutique inn unlike any other in the area. It offers the very best of refined hospitality, and with only eight guest rooms, the inn provides discretion and privacy like few other destinations. It is perhaps one of the best boutique inns not only in Mystic, but in all of New England. Additionally, if you’re a bibliophile, you’ll find one of New England’s most charming libraries just across the street.

3. Steamboat Inn
Like the Whaler’s Inn, Steamboat Inn is in the heart of downtown Mystic. They offer 11 elegant rooms overlooking the beautiful Mystic River. In fact, they are as close to the water as you can get, and given their proximity, they also offer seasonal transient dockage. So skip the roads and arrive by river.

4. Taber Inn
The Taber Inne, family owned and operated since 1971, is nestled in the heart of Historic Mystic Village. Encompassing 12 buildings, spread over two manicured acres, this boutique inn offers the perfect blend of warm hospitality, convenience, and charm. They’re also a very short walk from Nana’s, an award winning artisanal bakery and pizza shop. Nana’s was named one of Esquire’s Best New Restaurants in America in 2021.

5. The Inn at Mystic and Haley Mansion
The Inn at Mystic is situated on 14 green acres overlooking Fishers Island Sound and Mystic Harbor, offering rooms with ocean views, jacuzzis, and wood burning fireplaces. Operating for more than 50 years, the Inn at Mystic has continued to expand its offerings and now includes the Haley Mansion with full service banquet operations and Rocks 21 Restaurant and Raw Bar.

BONUS: Ocean House
We’re gerrymandering a bit here, including Ocean House in our list because, well, it’s in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Nonetheless, we’re compelled to suggest a day trip to the area’s only five-diamond, beach-front resort and ONE OF 14 TRIPLE FIVE-STAR PROPERTIES IN THE WORLD. Wow. That's worth seeing, and it's just 20 minutes from Mystic. Once there, you'll enjoy a walk on East Beach following a lunch in one of the Ocean House's unparalleled dining experiences.
